I’m working on my first sick rose. It’s my first attempt at a free-form rose applique. I want everything to look old, so I have used muslin from an old curtain and then stained it further with Dye-na-Flo inks. I’m going to add text to the section, along with some additional embellishment. In total, I will have four panels, all with aged muslin.

I’ve been enjoying the dyeing process. I am curently using the Jacquard inks. They are easy to use in a small space. I hope to learn more about dyeing my own fabric. I want to use more monochromatic fabrics, with texture and variation in color depth, and I hope the dyeing process will allow me that freedom.
