I have found a new way to practice my machine quilting: making a purse. This simple envelope purse is made from a quilted sandwich around 10 inches wide by 21 inches tall, so it’s a manageable size to machine quilt. Once it’s quilted, it’s easy enough to fold the quilt in thirds, sew up the edges, add a clasp and a strap, and I’m done!

This sample includes muslin that was painted by Alex, a nine-year-old friend who is developing a passion for fabric. Instead of trying to stipple the piece, I went bigger — apparently my inability to be delicate is better served with a larger quilt design, so I will be meandering from now on. 😉
